Planting Up Milton Keynes is a project aimed at getting local communities out, growing food and supporting wildlife, together.

Growing your own food and seeing nature at its best can be amazing but some people find it difficult to get started, not to mention some don’t even have a garden to try.

We know there are plenty of fantastic green spaces and areas dedicated to community gardens around the city, but they’re not always easy to learn about or find.

We want to help put them on the map (literally) and work together to bring a sustainable local community garden to every estate in Milton Keynes.

See the mapped community gardens in Milton Keynes here and contact us to help us add more.

We’re taking what we’re learning from Planting Up community garden at Westbury Arts Centre

We have plenty of enthusiastic volunteers who bring different skills and knowledge to support our project, so we’re keen to put our team and Transition Town MK connections to good use to help other communities in MK set up theirs.

We’re looking to support existing community gardens to be promoted and managed more sustainably.

How can we help yours?

Contact us with details about your project and we’ll add you to our green sites map for starters then we can work with you however you need from there.

Do you need help getting a new community garden started in an area of MK that’s missing out?

We can help you plan it and encourage local people to join in.  If you want to build a community garden that brings people and nature together and helps to produce great, low-cost local food (that benefits the environment by reducing households’ food miles and food waste) and grows plants and trees that support biodiversity and help to clean the air around us, then contact us.
